What is the differences of FMVQ and MVQ?

Within the application of silicone rubber products industry, there are different material matching for different fields and industries. Among daily use products, fumed silicone rubber occupy the vast majority of industries. However, compared with special silicone rubber materials with performance and lifespan, their fields are not at the same level. Fluorosilicon(FMVQ) rubber products are one of them, mainly used in mechanical construction and some heavy industries, So its performance and aging resistance are much more outstanding than many rubber and plastic materials.

Fluorosilicone(FMVQ), also known as trifluoropropyl methyl polysiloxane or special silicone rubber, is mainly made of carbon tetrafluoride and ethylene as raw materials. It can be combined with trimethyltrifluoropropyl cyclotrisiloxane and an appropriate amount of tetramethyltetravinyl ring. Tetrasiloxane is cured and mixed with a small amount of blocking agent under a catalyst, Its material has effectively improved its impact performance compared to silicone rubber material.

The main differences between the two are as follows:

1、 Different sources of material monomers

Fluorine rubber comes from synthetic polymer elastomers containing fluorine atoms on the carbon atoms of the main or side chains; The introduction of phenyl can improve the high and low temperature resistance of silicone rubber, while the introduction of trifluoropropyl and cyano groups can improve the temperature and oil resistance of silicone rubber.

2、 Different densities

Fluorine rubber (uncured) is around 1.8; And silicone rubber(MVQ) is around 1

3、 Different degrees of oil resistance

Fluorine rubber oil resistant; Silicone(MVQ) is not oil resistant.

4、 Different applications

Fluorine rubber is commonly used in environments that are resistant to oil, corrosion, and high temperatures, such as automotive engines, transmissions, and construction machinery; Silicone is mostly used in high and low temperature environments, and in practical use, it is commonly used in electronics, food, and medical machinery and equipment.

5、 Different service life

Compared with ordinary silicone products, fluorine rubber is more outstanding in terms of performance and lifespan. If the normal service life of ordinary silicone products reaches the bearing capacity of fluorine silicone rubber, it will accelerate aging capacity, decrease tensile strength, and cause large deformation. However, fluorine rubber differs from fumed silicone rubber in that different raw material additives lead to different performance. On the one hand, it is to improve higher purity, On the other hand, in order to improve better performance and efficiency, each has its own advantages.
